Carrefour rolls out its "Market" format in Oman

Majid Al Futtaim, has launched its “Carrefour Market” brand and format starting with two stores in Barka and Suhar.
Muscat, Oman: Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, has launched its “Carrefour Market” brand and format starting with two stores in Barka and Suhar.

Carrefour Market Almanuma Plaza, the first of its kind in Oman, offers a wide selection of consumer goods, food items, fruits and veggies, fresh fish, butchery, deli, and bakery.

Carrefour Market Suhar China Downtown, while it follows the same format of Carrefour Market Almanuma, it also has a consolidated electronics and mobile section.

Although the Carrefour Market concept is smaller by design, these shops are setup to carry a condensed range of everyday products and necessities at the ease and accessibility of your local convenience store.

Najib Haddad, Country Manager of Carrefour Oman at Majid Al Futtaim Retail said: “The Carrefour Market concept is an intuitive approach to adding ease and accessibility to our customers. They are setup in heavily populated areas where the idea of stepping out to grab everyday shopping needs becomes a quick visit to the closest Carrefour outlet, where you are guaranteed freshness, product selection, and great prices. We are working on adding a number of Market format outlets across the country in the very near future.”

Carrefour, which entered the Omani market in 2001, currently operates 12 stores across the country; 10 hypermarkets; four located in Muscat, 2 in Suhar, and one each in Nizwa, Sur, and Salalah, along with 2 Carrefour Market outlets, one in Almanuma Plaza, and one in Suhar China Downtown Mall.
