Majid Al Futtaim Retail signed a partnership agreement with Pharos University in Alexandria and its academic partner the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) in Ireland to launch a postgraduate programme in retail management.

Majid Al Futtaim Retail launches postgraduate programme in retail management via partnership with the University of Pharos and the Irish Dublin Institute of Technology

Alexandria, Egypt, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, which holds the exclusive franchise rights to operate the Carrefour brand in 38 countries across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, today signed a partnership agreement with Pharos University in Alexandria and its academic partner the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) in Ireland to launch a postgraduate programme in retail management.

The postgraduate programme aims to prepare qualified Egyptian graduates for jobs in the retail industry via a dedicated curriculum including key subjects such as e-marketing, supply chain management and strategic planning. After successful completion of the programme, outstanding students will be offered a variety of roles in different departments at Carrefour stores across the country. Carrefour’s existing employees will also have the opportunity to join the executive programme to further develop their skills and deepen their knowledge.

Dr. Hervé Majidier, Chief Operating Officer for Carrefour Egypt, KSA, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, said: “We are delighted to create this partnership with Pharos University and DIT, as it marks and important milestone in our efforts to invest and develop our local talent. Offering these students an internationally recognized programme with tailored courses for the retail sector, reflects on our commitment to the economic development of the country and benefits the community.”

Applicants interested in the programme need a bachelor’s degree in any field in addition to English language proficiency. Successful graduates will gain an international accreditation certificate from the DIT upon completion.  

Established in 1887, the DIT is a leading educational institution with the largest college of Business Administration in Ireland and a distinguished department of retail management that has several partnerships with global retail chains around the world.
